I'm not a pro, but have loved taking sports photos for years with film SLR and digital cameras. I have a Tamron lens that has been great so spending this much money on a lens was questionable to me. I wanted better night shots and all the reviews on line for the canon 70-200 lens were great. After using the lens I can say spending the money for the f/2.8L was worth every penny.

I'm glad I didn't go with the fixed 300mm as I wouldn't have been able to take shots as the boys ran toward me. The 70-200 gives just enough range to get great distance and close up shots. The shots I get of the high school football games are outstanding... stopping grass in the air, catching the fumbles, the sweat on their faces. Now I'm on to basketball and hope to get shots that are just as good.

The bracket over all works just fine and has a nice foam grip. However attaching it to my camera was not a pleasant experience. I had to use my own screw to attach my flash to the bracket because the one they included was too short. Also there is no way to use the bracket and a tripod at the same time. This became annoying!

Canon EW-78E Lens Hood for canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens Review

I recently purchased the Canon Tli and the 15-85mm IS USM. I had hoped to purchase the corresponding lens hood at the same time but, alas, it was not immediately available.

I checked Amazon as well as several other sellers with no luck. Turned out one of the Amazon merchants, Adorama, showed they had some available so I ordered from them. Turns out their claim of available stock was incorrect and I later received a back order notice from them. I certainly would have understood if the manufacture simply had not shipped this new item yet, as it seems was the case for all the other sellers, but I do feel duped into purchasing from them since they misrepresented their stock availability and will not order from them again.

That said, the lens hood is about what I expected, metal mounting ring with a matte plastic hood. It fits securely with a bayonet style mount both normally and inversely for storage.

Note: This hood will still work if you have a lens filter. The hood mount does not use the filter threads to attach.

I purchased the hood and used it on my 15-85mm lens. It mounts easily, on the bayonet part of the lens, so no problem if you want to use/change filters and can be reversed for storage. Very practical. It is also covered with non-reflecting material (inside part) to avoid reflections from light.

Don't waste your money and time on some cheap product that is not going to work. I previously bought a cheaper version (other brand) that was threaded to the filter - so I couldn't use another filter - and what was worst, the hood's longest parts were shown in the photo (at the widest zoom) although the description was saying "For a 15-85 lens".

This product is worth the extra $$$. Highly recommended.

First off, I don't wear glasses and I don't know how this will feel for a glasses wearer.

After reading a lot about this eyepiece magnifier I decided to give it a try on my Nikon D60. It fits perfectly and installed in a couple of minutes. First thing you must then do is fine tune the diopter so you'll get the sharpest view. I like this eyepiece a lot! It's crisp and clear. It sticks out just far enough to give your nose more room. No more squishing my face against the back of the camera. The eye cup is also very comfortable. I'm still able to see all the info at the bottom of the viewfinder including the green focus indicator. I previously installed a split prism focusing screen from [...] and this combination is great. I shoot with a lot of old manual focus lenses and this combo makes my D60 feel a lot more like a film camera. It's much easier to focus quickly and accurately now. Highly recommended for the D60 and D40 users. One caveat. My camera was hopelessly out of adjustment for manual focusing. The auto focus green dot was dead on. I needed to adjust the allen head behind the mirror for the manual focus and auto focus to both be accurate. It's easy to do. You can find a step by step guide online if you Google D70 focus adjusting. Same steps for the D40 and D60. For you to get the most out of both the split prism and eyepiece magnifier you'll want to do this.

This product is described as appropriate for the Canon EOS XTI. Unfortunately, the extension of the eyepiece when mounted entirely blocks the sensor that shuts down the camera's LCD display screen when you place your eye to the optical viewfinder. This unfortunately make the product useless to me.

This KPS magnifier actually gives a 1.35x magnification, that's a 35% increase, which is very significant. I put one on a Panasonic Lumix L1 dslr and the improvement is fantastic. If your viewfinder is small and/or dark, I would give this magnifier a try. The rubber eye cup works great and cuts out all ambient light. Two screws secure it to the original viewfinder so it won't fall off. I gave it only four stars because I think it is a bit over-priced, but then again, forty bucks for a whole new viewfinder isn't too bad. One note: I do NOT wear glasses, so I cannot comment on how this will work for those who wear glasses.

Buy Sony Cybershot DSCW80 vs Canon Powershot SD1000

With a difficult time deciding between a Sony Cybershot DSCW80 and a Canon Powershot SD1000? Do not worry, your not the first. They are both very good cameras with some exceptional features. Some characteristics that distinguish them are worth it, very seriously, and some are just marketing hype. Let's look more closely, and sort fact from fiction.

Start with the similarities between these two cameras. These conditions are essentially cancel each other, andnot a problem. Above all, price. As of this writing, these two cameras the same price range of around 150-200 euros. When you get to see maybe 10 or a $ 20 savings between one or the other store if you are around, not really worth more than food. Both have about the same number of megapixels. 7.2 for Sony DSCW80 and 7.1 for the Canon SD1000. This is a wash. Both Sony and Canon are in the category of ultra-compact, with all the associated prior --and disadvantages that go with this design. See optical viewfinder is used for both cameras. I was overall very satisfied w/ my warranty. The camera broke and with very few questions they mailed me a pre paid UPS lable and send the camera back and with in the week I had been reimbursed the amount I paid for the camera to my paypal acct.
Only issue I had was that shortly after I bought the camera I had a problem w/ the lens and called squaretrade. Not only would they not honor the issue, because I had the camera for less them 30 days, but if the future they would not warranty that issue. I was able to use the manufacturers 30 warranty and with my second issue, a yr later, I made sure the problem sounded nothing like the first claim. I would use them again though.

I was pleasantly surprised to have such a great experience. I have been burnt in the past from shopping online... get a product that doesn't work, then fight to get it replaced or refunded. The A720 looks like a great debate about it on quality. If you really think a Canon PowerShot A720 IS digital camera, you must consider both sides of the debate. With a variety of digital camera vendors flooding the network, it is difficult to tell someone to see how big the A720 too. What you need is someone to point out they have problems. To connect, I am more than happy.

The A720 can not handle the children,or other fast moving objects without manual intervention. Most of the time you end up with only vague images. Offering all the machine settings such PowerShot, none of them is to have a fast shutter speed to shine. There is no sport "mode, and also the" way of children "is a slower shutter speed than expected. Of course, you can choose manually, but then you have all the settings manually, not just the shutter speed. This type of behavior undermines the whole sense of being an easy-to-point and useCompact.

To compound the original problem is a time to recharge the flash. So, after the first blurry picture is taken, you can expect to pay a few seconds for the flash. So much for the insertion of a photo quick second to try to recover the book mess. The Canon A720 IS (and some other fees) only uses 2 double-A batteries. Canon and others seem to be inclined to move the camera with large LCD screens overload, and powerSucking flashes and then a low cost in the battery department. You've already experienced all the problems of recent purchasers of the Canon PowerShot SD950IS? Did you ever say that a problem? If not, then you're not watching enough. Even if your best friend or family member may have recommended the SD950IS, this does not mean you should just run out and buy. Every digital camera has flaws, and can be a really big deal. . . or face a really insignificant, depending on the person who purchases the> Camera. The point is to be honest with yourself about all the pros and cons of each product before you shell your hard-earned money. You'll be happier in the long term. To be able to view some problems with the SD950IS.

With about $ 350 for the SD950IS, you're right, too close to high-end price for a place to work and turn on the camera. I went to a local camera shop (SAMY'S) to try out some of the hand grips they had. Unfortunately, their selection wasn't grand, and they recommended this one as "the best."

I tried it in the store, using my Canon 40D. It was next to impossible to set up, and once we did manage to get it on my camera, it felt flimsy, and I felt no security in how it would steady my camera. Thankfully I was able to try it before I bought it. I did not buy it.

Just would not work for me. No matter how I set the hand strap on camera, the strap just did not fit right nor wrap on my hand/wrist properly so I could shoot or hold camera comfortably. Additionally, the part that screwed into the camera was off-line setting when I put camera on tripod. It just felt uncomfortable to me when shooting on tripod. It was as if I was shooting from side of tripod and left me feeling that I was shooting off-center. This product to me is a waste of money. I do not recommend its' purchase. Chalk this up as a lesson learned. I just went back to the shoulder strap that came with the camera. I just have the camera held with the strap around my neck or shoulder or on a tripod when I go out to shoot. I have decided to wrap the shoulder strap a few times around my wrist when carrying the camera which seems to work better than this product.

Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM Lens for Canon Mount Digital SLR Cameras Review

I received the Sigma 17-70 2.8-4 OS HSM from Amazon five days ago. I have taken about 400 shots with this lens, including landscapes, indoor family gatherings with flash, and a sporting event in a large, well-lit indoor arena. It seems to me that this lens works as advertised. I don't see focus problems with this lens in either the AI Servo to AI Focus modes on my Canon XSi. The XSi exposure metering seems to work fine with the Sigma 17-70, and I cannot see anything wrong with color accuracy. The finish, appearance, and feel of the lens are pleasing. I like it, and it certainly seems to be a good value given its relatively low cost vs. function. I have awarded four stars in my rating only because of my limited experience with this lens. If this lens continues to work as it has so far, I would award a fifth star.

Photography is my hobby, not my profession, but I carry my camera to work and shoot nearly every day. I cannot afford high-end camera equipment, so I make do with what I can afford. Even so, I have had rewarding successes and lots of fun with my hobby. My photos have been published in magazines, textbooks, brochures, large-format calendars, and web sites. They have been framed and hung on walls in office suites, sports arenas, and homes.

I have used Sigma lens for the past ten years, and currently own four Sigma lens for my Canon XSi. Sigma lens are cheap, they are most often lightweight as compared to Canon lens, and they work acceptably well. I am familiar with the "you get what you pay for" concept, and I understand that sometimes there are issues with Sigma lens. I can see why professionals need sturdy equipment, but overall Sigma has provided me with a successful and cost-effective way to observe, record, and enjoy my surroundings.

This is probably the last time I try a sigma lens. I previously got the older non-OS 17-70, and it was not very sharp. This time, I was very excited to see if the newer product fared any better. But no, clearly this new lens, straight-out of the box, was focusing at a point in front of the intended target. This problem was made even more obvious when I immediately switched to my trusty Canon 17-55. Oh well...

Canon TC-DC58 Tele-Converter 1.5x Review

This product has agreat quality.
I've taken a ton of pictures with this lens, and it instantly moved my Sports photos from "Great Amateur Work" to "Decent Professional Work".

If you would like a sample, email me i have a ton of pictures with and without the lens.

I was very surprised at the difference it made. Getting pics of the kids in sports, or closeups of animal life in the woods, birds in the back yard or Rock Stars on stage, this product is awsome.

The price is questionable. Shop around (on yahoo) and find the best price. The prices range anywhere from 70 - 180 dollars. I cashed in at 80 dollars.

Also note that you'll need the "converter" to use this product. ($...).

One more thing i might say is that the "built-in" flash is somewhat blocked by this lens when attached to the camera... But that shouldn't matter because if you need a "teleconverter" to get a close photo of it, you're flash probably won't reach the subject ANYway...

I am a freelance photographer who loves his Canon photo equipment. I just recently got into Digital photography and of course, bought a Canon PowerShot Pro 90 and love it. I decided to add the Canon Wide Angle, Macro and Telephoto lenses made for the camera. Well the first two were a big hit, but the TC-DC58 was not quite up to speed as the others. The focus was Ok and photos, no matter what I did, were not as sharp but useable. It is very important to go to the Menu and change the setting to 2X Digital when using this lens or the pictures come out terrible. The camera's max 370mm telephoto can take much sharper pictures, so my recommendation is that if you really need to go out to about 520mm and average quality is OK, then this tele converter will do the job.
